An ear cuff touches the ear for hours, often on the cartilage, which is more sensitive than the lobe. Platinum plating has two advantages here: it is low-reactive and tarnishes more slowly than bare silver.
Why platinum on cartilage
Cartilage reacts to cheap alloys faster than the lobe, especially if a cuff holds firmly and stays in one place for a while. A low-reactive metal lowers the risk of irritation. The point matters most with clip-on models, which are in constant contact with the skin.

Wearing
Put them on without over-tightening and take them off at night. The cool colour ties in with the rest of your platinum-plated jewellery and with silver studs in higher piercings.
